Event Security FAQ
Event security FAQs
Practical answers for event organisers, production teams, and venue owners.
How many event stewards do I need for my event?
A rough baseline is 1 steward per 100 attendees for low-risk events, scaling up for venues with alcohol, mixed demographics, or enhanced terror risk. KBG builds exact numbers from an event risk assessment — venue layout, exits, crowd dynamics, timings, and Martyn's Law tier.
Do you provide crowd management for concerts and festivals?
Yes. Services include pit barrier teams, access control, front-of-stage crowd monitoring, search lanes, perimeter cover, and response teams. KBG is experienced at outdoor and indoor music events across the Midlands.
What's the difference between stewards and door supervisors?
Stewards are trained for crowd management, wayfinding, and safety support; door supervisors hold full SIA licences and are deployed where conflict management, physical intervention, or alcohol-licensed premises require it. Most events use a blend.
How does Martyn's Law affect my event?
The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025 requires in-scope venues and events to have a risk assessment, trained staff, and an emergency plan. KBG can deliver all three and brief your team. Ask about our Martyn's Law readiness support.
Do you provide event security for private parties and weddings?
Yes. Discreet, single-cover to multi-officer teams for weddings, milestone birthdays, and private receptions. We match officer appearance and style to the tone of the event.
How far in advance should I book event security?
Ideally 4-6 weeks for mid-size events and 3+ months for large festivals. We do accept short-notice bookings and have done 24-hour turnarounds — but early booking gives more officer-team flexibility.
Do your officers carry out bag and body searches?
Yes, where an event risk assessment requires it and consent-to-search signage is in place. All searches follow SIA guidance with same-sex searching as default.
